We all need to wind up once in a while as this will help rejuvenate our energy and senses. A long vacation or a simple weekend rv get away will do. However, there are times that a supposedly happy and memorable trip ends up to be a real disaster.
No matter how we try to prepare for that trip, there are instances that emergencies such as lost of items, getting sick or hurt, ran out of cash, and many more may arise. When this happens, it will just increase the stress that we intend to reduce. Also, there is a risk of overspending from the emergency.
That is the reason it is logical to have emergency assistance membership other than insurance. This is a very valuable especially during a crisis. It will ensure proper medical evacuation, return of traveling companion assistance, lost items assistance, worldwide medical information and so much more. It only implies that having it on hand will make you feel better even if there is emergency.
It’s been six months since I made a small garden. That was the exact time I could remember I started to love plants. The move is inspired by my farming online games.
It is true that I love playing virtual games. But, I got tired thinking that I kept on playing and not getting anything in the future. So, I decide to transfer my attention to a real life garden where I can get benefits rather than waste my time to virtual plants.
As of now, the plants are already fully grown. Actually, I’m already using most of it in some of the dishes I cook. And they remain live and others are still bearing fruits despite the harsh condition we are experiencing.
Anyway, since I feel I have a green thumb, I am motivated to get indoor plants, for a change. I think it would be a great house decoration and a very refreshing one too. All I have to do now is to choose the spots that need embellishments. After that, is the only time I can choose the kind of plants suitable for a particular area. For that process, I might need to get hubby’s help. That way we will be both happy with the kind of plants we will choose. But, I think he would agree that the one in the picture is perfect even if I still don’t have a spot for that.
I love movies; there is no doubt about it. But, going to the movie house every now and then is not an option. Not only it is expensive, I don’t have the option to watch it over again. So, hubby and I seldom go to the movie house. It only happens during special occasions.
Oftentimes, we opt to download the movies that we like. That way, we can watch it over and over again at any convenient time. But, we have to wait for hours; sometimes it takes days for the download to complete. I blame that all to my low speed internet. But, that is okay as compared to no internet at all.
My father requested to give him a copy of the Cool Hand Luke movie. I’ve never heard of this movie before, the only way to find out is through the web. I’ve learned that it is a 1967 drama movie of Paul Newman. I’ve never realized that my father loved very old movies, older than he is.
As I find this movie, I also discover that there is a site where I can download movies in HD quality at the lowest possible price. Actually, movies and tv shows in Hi-Def and DVD quality all genres are available for downloads. Now, I can download any movies I like even the 2009 movies. Hehehe!
It is always a question of what makes a better pet, a cat or a dog, has been on the table for years, with defenders of each camp going to great lengths to show how one pet is better than the other. Speaking strictly from a scientific point of view, it seems dogs are much better friends to man than cats are; therefore the battle appears to be won by the canines, according to the recent research done by the New Scientist.
The research took the cat and the dog and figuratively pitted the one against the other in eleven major categories, ranging from brain size to usefulness and ability to bond and interacts with humans. While cats are clearly better endowed than their ancient rivals, the dogs, as regards human interactions, the latter win by a whisker. When drawing the line after analyzing the pets by the eleven criteria, New Scientist has proclaimed dog the winner with 6 to 5.
Which is the more efficient way to keep cool, turning on your AC or leaving your freezer door open? Well, if you have an older house, they’re probably about equal. Sloppy ductwork loses a lot of cool air, and older ACs are pretty more inefficient. You may install an Energy Star air conditioner and make use of programmable thermostats to save big on electricity.
Having this stuff will give you the benefits of saving some cold, hard cash. Replace a 10-year-old room AC with a new Energy Star model and save about $14/year. Use programmable thermostats and save about $100/year. Drapes also shutter and awnings can further keep out heat by up to 77%. And, lower cooling costs by 10-50% by planting hardwood trees on the east, west and south sides of the house.
Every now and then we run out of time when it comes to cooking and suddenly find ourselves under pressure, with a meal looming and a hungry family impatient for their baked chicken dinner. Well, stay cool! It does not have to take 60 minutes or more to roast a chicken; it just takes a little cunning and a fairly relaxed half an hour. Alright, it will take 35 minutes, but it will still be roasted and will still be the entire chicken. Here’s a method you can use practically no work on your part at all.
Using Microwave Oven, you need a 1.5kg (that’s about 3lbs) chicken or smaller. Mix together a little olive oil, some dark soy sauce, a teaspoon of paprika, a tablespoon of mixed dried herbs and two crushed cloves of garlic. Paint this mix all over the chicken, then put it into a roasting bag and seal it by twisting the end of the bag and folding it under the chicken.
Punch a couple of holes in the bag and microwave on High for 30 minutes. At the end of the cooking time, leave the chicken in the microwave, without opening the door, for a further 5 minutes. Be careful when you open the bag, just in case there is still some steam waiting to escape. It can burn you. That’s it, Enjoy!
It is a fact that today we are overwhelmed by choices! If we go to a drive through hamburger place we have about 20 choices to make and that’s just for the sandwich. Then you have to decide on fries or onion rings, what kind of drink, and do you want to biggie size or super size that? With the way our society has become accustomed to having so many choices in everything it is no surprise that shoes are the same way.
The comfort and support that the shoe offers is of vital importance to the health of your feet now and in the future. As a matter of fact, wearing improper shoes can cause way more problems than just sore toes. Wearing a shoe that does not support or that is the wrong size can cause back pain and even spinal injury. How is that for a wake up call? The discomfort that you suffer in your foot due to improperly fitting shoes is minimal compared to the serious back pain it can lead to.
Fever is a frequent medical sign that describes an increase in internal body temperature to levels above normal. Fever is most accurately characterized as a temporary elevation in the body’s thermoregulatory set-point, usually by about 1–2 °C (1.8-3.6 °F). This is caused by an elevation in the thermoregulatory set-point, causing typical body temperature to rise. A feverish individual has a general feeling of cold despite an increased body temperature, and increases in heart rate, muscle tone and shivering, all of which are caused by the body’s attempts to counteract the newly perceived hypothermia and reach the new thermoregulatory set-point. Well, here are some things that you can do at home to help alleviate fever:
- Extract 1 teaspoon each juice of tulsi leaves and bel flowers. Add 1 teaspoon honey. Take twice every day.
- Tea made by boiling 1teaspoon fenugreek seeds (methidana), taken twice or thrice a day provides excellent remedy. (A little honey or lemon juice can be added to improve the flavour).
- Grind a few roots of the mango tree into a fine paste and apply on the palm and soles of the patients.
Not long ago a robbery happened few meters away from the house. We even hear the girl scream and the gun fire despite the high volume of our tv. The robbers fled using their motorbikes, but they are bold enough to return to the scene to confront some of the people including our landlady who responds to the victim. They told them that she was shot because she tried to fight back and rush off.
It is a dreaded scene. The people are helpless because they have guns. From that, we also learned that it was not the first incident of robbery in this area. There are a number of cases happened before we moved in here. Of course, the news broke our hearts because we are not safe even if we are just meters away from a busy road.
Few measures must be taken. We don’t want to wait for the robbers to get into the apartment and rob us. The tall grass and trees, in which they can hide and jump on the passers, were cut. Our landlady installed barbed wire in our almost 12 feet tall solid concrete fence. And, she also fixed the gate locked.
As for hubby and I thought of installing wireless alarms. But, we dropped the idea because we have plans of transferring before December ends. Aside from that, we must discuss the idea with the other renters because we are in one compound. They may or may not agree with it. For those reasons, we postponed the idea until we can move to a place that we will reside permanently.
