Many might not know it, but I am a big fan of Britney Spears before she lost her track. Now she’s back and has joined forces with Candie’s again for a new campaign, following the immense success that was the one for the Fall 2009 collection. This time, though, to prove that the company is indeed branching out to cater to other age segments as well, the campaign is also taking on a more serious note, thanks to the contribution of the world’s top fashion photographers shooting the singer.
The ads just made their way online and, while many of them are still in the same shade of delicious pink as those from the previous campaign, others are more low-key, with more emphasis on the main star – Britney – and the creations she models. These, in turn, range from Greek goddess-type of dresses to the cutest lingerie items and girlie pyjamas, with these last items coming, of course, is various shades of pink.
Speaking with MTV about the campaign, Britney gushed about what an “honor” it is to be asked back for a second season and to have had the opportunity to work with such wonderful photographers. “Annie, Mark and Terry are three of the biggest photographers in the world. I am honored to be working with them for my Candie’s Only at Kohl’s ads. It was an amazing shoot, and I know my fans are going to love the cool images… I’m very excited to be working with Candie’s for a second season,” the singer said.
The Hollywood stunner Charlize Theron and Irish actor Stuart Townsend is no longer an item after dating for about nine years. Though no announcement regarding this was made officially, Charlize has been photographed on a couple of occasions without the commitment ring Townsend gave her and that she reportedly said she would never take off, the Daily Mail informs.
They were not married yet but that was only because marriage would change anything about the way they felt for each other, or that it would, somehow, make their relationship better. As far as they were concerned, they were husband and wife and did not need a marriage license to prove it. What they did have as a symbol of their commitment to each other was a ring Townsend gave the actress and that she promised never to take off for as long as they were together.
During the Hope for Haiti telethon last weekend, Charlize first appeared without the ring. “The stunning 5ft 11in South African has told close friends that she decided to split from the Irish actor following a Christmas trip to Mexico and has since stopped wearing the antique ‘commitment ring’ that Townsend gave her as a symbol of their relationship,” the Mail writes. Details of the split, coming from sources close to the couple, would indicate that being the breadwinner in the couple also took its toll on the relationship and eventually prompted Charlize to break it off.
67th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony was a fabulous event, with stars rocking only the best evening outfits, matched with incredible jewelry and other designer accessories. Of the female celebrities that have walked the red carpet last night, a handful has done so with a purpose: that of bringing exposure to their outfits, which will be auctioned to benefit Haiti, as MTV News informs.
Olivia Wilde, star of “House M.D.” spoke to MTV right there on the red carpet, and stressed that the media exposure should also be used with a good purpose in mind. She and many other women have pledged to auction the gowns they wore at the Globes and then donate all the proceeds to a charity that will see that the victims of the latest earthquake in Haiti will be provided with whatever they need at this time.
“Wilde and her colleagues – including Streep, Josh Brolin, Gerard Butler, Amy Poehler and Jenna Fischer – are auctioning off their Globe outfits for an organization called Artists for Peace and Justice, with all proceeds going to help the people of Haiti. One hundred percent of the proceeds with go directly toward the relief effort. ‘It’s a really cool thing and hopefully we can turn all this fashion coverage into something positive,’ said Wilde, who wore a Gucci gown,” MTV informs.
Olivia Wilde is not the only celebrity to get involved in the charities looking to offer some sort of relief to victims in Haiti. George Clooney will host a telethon for the same cause on January 22, while many other stars have already donated money. These include Madonna, will.i.am, Sandra Bullock and many others.
Did you know that Paris Hilton a Hollywood’s former wild child and socialite extraordinaire, is now the wife of Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan? The two tied the knot in a quickie ceremony in Las Vegas the other day. In attendance: Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. Well, this was just a match made in reality heaven, a mock wedding to promote Morgan’s upcoming reality show.
“Piers had persuaded Paris to take part in the 15-minute spoof ceremony at The Little Church of the West, to be aired on his VH1 show Piers Morgan on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 9 PM ET,” the same publication writes. Morgan even joked about the legality of the ceremony, telling the British media that, “Well, I don’t think I signed anything, so I’m pretty sure it’s not actually legal. Having said that, we did go through all the vows, so I can’t be entirely sure.”
As it’s already known, though they were bride and groom for the spoof segment, both stars are in serious relationships. Paris Hilton is dating on-and-off flame Doug Reinhardt, while Piers Morgan is engaged to be married to Celia Walde.
According to the news, Angelina Jolie was reaping praises from the media after the word got out that she and Brad Pitt contributed with approximately $6.4 million to charity this year. Today, she’s again tabloid fodder because she secretly hates President Barack Obama for not sharing the same views as her on the measures that need to be implemented for progress.
As the actress sees it, Obama is actually mostly trying to get people’s attention away from what’s really important with the help of rather cheap tactics. Moreover, her opinions as regards the President and the measures he’s taken so far have often made it so that she and partner Brad Pitt, an outspoken Obama supporter, have repeatedly gotten into heated arguments.
Her political views often clash with that of Brad, and the fight a lot precisely because both are committed to what they believe and can hardly accept that someone else could also be right. They get in nasty arguments all the time about it. She doesn’t respect Brad when it comes to politics, but in the end, this won’t tear them apart, reportedly by close friend of the couple.
On a brighter note, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s charitable efforts got a lot of positive media the other day, when it emerged they had donated over $6 million to several causes they have supported throughout the years. Of these, $2 million went to Global Health, $1 million to Human Rights Watch, $1 million to Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation, $500,000 to the Armed Services YMCA of the US Army, $50,000 to the Springfield, Missouri Public Schools, and $1 million for several projects in Cambodia.
Michael Jackson’s doctor has spoken publicly for the first time since the singer died. Dr Conrad Murray, who was with the star when he suffered a cardiac arrest on 25 June, posted a video on YouTube thanking his supporters. In the short 1min clip, Dr Murray said: “I told the truth and I have faith the truth will prevail.”
He has not been named as an official suspect in the investigation. However, court records have identified the 51-year-old as the subject of a manslaughter enquiry and he has been interviewed twice by police.
So far Dr Murray has shied away from speaking in public with statements being made through his lawyer. In fact Murray said that because of all that is going on, he is afraid to return phone calls or use e-mail. Also he said “I recorded this video to let all of you know that I have been receiving your messages. Your messages give me strength and courage and keep me going. They mean the world to me.”
The US actress Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. The cancer is not life threatening. She is now following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery, Ame Van Iden said. The 36-year-old is best known for her role as Kelly Bundy in the long-running sitcom in US that Married with Children.
Last month she was nominated for an Emmy award for her current role as an amnesiac in TV comedy Samantha Who? She also received a Golden Globe nomination for the show, in which Applegate plays a woman who awakens from an eight-day coma remembering nothing about her past.
Applegate is scheduled to appear next month on a TV fund-raiser in aid of cancer research. Meryl Streep, Jennifer Aniston and Charlize Theron will also appear on the telethon, to be aired simultaneously on US networks CBS, NBC and ABC. She played Aniston’s sister in two episodes of Friends, for which she won an Emmy for best guest appearance. Applegate’s publicist said she had benefited from early detection through an MRI ordered by her doctor.
Ever since Jennifer Aniston very notorious split from ex husband Brad Pitt, the actress has been painted either as Brad Pitt’s jilted wife crying her eyes out over his framed photo every night before falling asleep, or as Angelina Jolie’s worst enemy, plotting her cheating rival’s painful death and complete obliteration from showbiz. However, yet another rumor is currently doing the rounds, as one newspaper claims that Aniston is set to adopt a baby boy, and with the adoption underway, she’s already moving on to preparing a nursery for her precious bundle of joy.
Accordingly, Aniston has already started renovations on her house, which will soon reportedly include a brand-new $300,000 nursery. The newspaper also claims that the actress has also stocked up on baby clothes and has decided on a name for her son. However, given that Jennifer has just started her own production company, it seems that she has picked a rather tricky time for such an important arrival – but her friends have reportedly concerned this is not an issue with Jen at the time. She decided to name him Alexander – which means defender of men. She jokes that he’ll grow up to be the best divorce attorney in Hollywood. They also claims that despite the busy schedule, the actress feels this is the right time to adopt a baby, and plans to bring her son on set wherever she will happen to be working.
Well, what do you know! All you people out there who were crying non stop, thinking how poor Brit Brit Spears is all alone in the world, crazy, friendless and jobless, you can stop now. I mean really, you can stop, dry your tears and smile, ’cause the sun is shining again on the formerly-out of control fallen pop princess. Well, maybe not really shining, but a couple of rays are making their way down to Brit’s heart, and the frapp loving singer has a reason (or at least a pretext) to stop spending her days driving aimlessly around L.A. and hooking up with paparazzi lovers. Why? Well, because lil’ Brit Brit Spears landed a job, y’all, and is reportedly very excited about it.
And no, Britney is NOT trying to buy off Starbucks and become the multi-million dollar executive of a giant frappuccino-making international consortium – nor is she going back to singing, at least for now. No, she’s trying her hand at acting again (shudder). The singer’s representative has confirmed reports that she will make a guest appearance on the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.” Britney previously appeared as a guest on another CBS sitcom, “Will and Grace” (sometime at the beginning of 2006 if memory serves), and didn’t do such a horribly bad job of it, so here she is getting another shot at fame as an actress. Oh, joy.
No word yet on exactly what part Britney will be playing on the show, but it’s deemed to be a small project. Gossip site TMZ reported that the popwreck already took part in a read-through and she was “really funny”, according to a source. No word yet on whether the source found Britney herself funny (funny-looking is my guess), or whether Brit’s attempted performance was the source of the humor. Apparently, all this is nothing but “a small legitimate project that will keep her busy doing something”. Good for her. At least it’s not boozing, doing drugs or visiting gas stations at night and using public toilets. Big improvement, don’t you think?
