Nearly a month now, Lady Gaga has been telling her critics that what she does is live art, insisting that she’s not a fake and she’s definitely not putting up this entire act for the shock factor. She makes the same point in a brand new interview with Rolling Stone, to promote her latest album “Born This Way.” Speaking of her early days in the business, the singer insists that it wasn’t an easy journey, even if most people would assume it was: at one point, she actually grew tired of being endlessly questioned, doubted and under the lens.

No one could believe that she was the real thing and that she wasn’t just acting out to get people’s attention, Gaga tells the music magazine. It was as if no one wanted to believe that she could be this complex as to breathe art through every pore, every wacky outfit and every out-of-this-world performance.

“Is it that you believe that I am attention-seeking or shock for shock’s sake, or is it just that it’s been a long time since someone has embraced the art form the way that I have?” she says when asked what she’d tell those who argue that she’s only doing all this to attract attention and keep herself relevant. “Perhaps it’s been a couple of decades since there’s been an artist that’s been as vocal about culture, religion, human rights, politics,” Gaga ventures a guess. “I’m so passionate about what I do, every bass line, every EQ. Why is it that you don’t want more from the artist, why is it that you expect so little, so when I give and give, you assume it’s narcissistic?” she asks. [Read more...]

Paris Hilton has been keeping a very low profile these days, but that’s not to say she hasn’t been keeping busy. On the contrary, she’s working on her latest reality show, enjoying the company of her “love” and focusing on leading a healthier life. The always slender Paris seems to have gained some weight, which was initially attributed to a surprise pregnancy. However, she’s reportedly on a 3,500-calorie diet and a very intense workout routine because she wants to gain some muscle mass.

In fact, if she were to tell the truth, Paris would say she was underweight before – which is precisely what she does, thus speaking out on the issue for the first time since breaking into the spotlight.  In the interview, Paris also shrugs off questions about former BFFs Nicole Richie and Kim Kardashian, of whom she refuses to speak negatively, and reveals she’s dreaming of a huge family and motherhood.

“I think that’s the meaning of life, having your own children. I can’t wait for that day. I look forward to experiencing that love and close bond. I’m in an incredible relationship,” Paris gushes of her current beau Cy, whom she’s been dating for about a year. Cy is unlike any other guy she’s dated, she says, because he’s very loyal and has the ability to make her comfortable no matter what. Paris trusts him with her life. Family is really important to me; I’m so close with all of my family. I hope to be fortunate enough to be blessed with lots of children,” she adds.

Since Natalie Portman announced she was pregnant with her first child – with fiancé ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied – all eyes have been on her, especially with awards season in full bloom. At the 2011 Golden Globes, she did not disappoint. Like it or hate it, Portman’s dress at the awards ceremony was the most buzzed of the evening. It was a rose colored / pale pink Viktor and Rolf, accented with a giant red rose on her chest.

The actress, who took home the award for Best Actress for her role in “Black Swan,” matched the dress – or rather the red rose – with Stella McCartney red shoes, jewelry from Tiffany & Co. and a red Dior clutch. PopEater says the dress was just the perfect choice for Portman, since it both allowed her to show off her growing baby bump, and also made a statement of how she’s always one step ahead of the rest of the class in terms of style. However, there was one thing about it that turned it into quite a topic for debate in the blogosphere that oversized red rose.

“It was a sweet color. The floaty layers were adorable. Its empire waist was perfect for Portman’s tiny pregnant tummy. And no one could deny she was pretty, especially as she accepted the award for Best Actress. But some called the big red rose at the dress’ bustline ‘horrible.’ One said it might make her cry. ‘Natalie Portman looked so glowing and gorgeous. Somehow though her dress reminded me of a Valentine’s Day chocolate box,’ tweeted one watcher. At the same time, others agreed that the rose was a bit on the tacky side, but that Portman worked it wonderfully into the whole ensemble. Either way Natalie was definitely the most mentioned name with fashion watchers at last night’s Golden Globes, while her dress was the biggest risk she’s taken so far fashion-wise,” PopEater writes.

He may have been terribly overlooked by the awards galas, but Leonardo DiCaprio is laughing all the way to the bank. Forbes magazine has just named him the highest grossing actor of 2010. While fans believe he was “robbed” of at least one Golden Globe nomination, there is confirmation that he remains one of the most bankable stars of today.

Not only did his “Inception” shatter records at the box office (without the inflated price of 3D tickets, Forbes duly notes) and bode really well with critics, but it also consolidated Leo as a sure-hit with audiences. “Inception” and the previously released “Shutter Island” made of him the highest grossing star at the box office for the year that’s about to end, with sales of $1.1 billion globally. Being a savvy businessman will help Leo get a share of this amount, since he agreed to do both films for a lower salary than his customary $20 million paycheck, in exchange for a share of final profits.

For the present list, though, the mag takes into account only box office gross, without DVD sales. The rest of the list looks as follows: newcomer Mia Wasikowska is second for her role in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” which made $1.03 million at the global box office. Her “Alice” co-star, Johnny Depp, landed in third place, while Robert Downey Jr. comes in fourth. Daniel Radcliffe is at number 5, for his role in the latest “Harry Potter” film, “Death Hallows Part 1.”

Though he did say that he believed himself too “old” to reprise the Jason Bourn part in the upcoming “Bourne 4,” Matt Damon found out that he wouldn’t be coming back on the Internet. According to a recent interview the actor gave to Parade magazine, no one involved in the making of the fourth film even bothered to call him to let him know that he’d been dropped from it. So, because no one did, he had to find out that he wouldn’t be involved in it just like everybody else did: on the Internet, in the news.

“I found out they’re making another when somebody saw it on the Internet. Nobody bothered to call me,” Matt Damon says. He’s not harboring any hard feelings about it, though. Moreover, he’s convinced the fourth film, tentatively called “Bourne Legacy” will work even without him and the characters he’s played in the previous 3 blockbusteres. “I’m not in it, but even so, they’ll work Bourne into the title I guess. Universal just wants to call everything the Bourne something. So I guess they are trying to make another franchise and as they say, ‘It isn’t over until it’s over’,” Damon says.

She’s fresh out of jail (again) but Lindsay Lohan continues to court controversy. A fresh set of pictures showing her injecting herself with what looks like heroin and then kissing Paris Hilton has surfaced in the media. As it was informed the other day, Lindsay was in court again on Friday to answer for her two court-mandated and failed drug tests, one of which tested positive for cocaine. She was sentenced to 30 days for parole violation, had bail denied, was booked and taken to prison, appealed, had her sentence overturned, posted $300,000 bail and was out – all in a day’s work.

Now, News of the World has the first irrefutable piece of evidence that Lindsay is no stranger to heavy drugs like heroin, in the form of a series of shocking photos. The pictures were reportedly taken in 2007, when her troubles with the law began and she was arrested twice for DUI.

After showcasing the controversial meat dress at the VMAs 2010 and almost literally cleaning the awards, Gaga took flight in yet another one of her outlandish outfits – which showed off a brand new tattoo. We know for a fact that comfort means nothing for the singer or, at least, not when she puts it in balance with the shock factor. Well, this is not really that shocking since we’re talking about Gaga here, also allowed her to showcase her brand new tattoo – a unicorn on her thigh, as E! Online notes.

Only the head of the magical creature is pictured, while the message “Born This Way,” the name of her upcoming album, can be seen above the horn. “It looks like Lady Gaga is completely committed to the title of her next album. Just hours after gracing the VMA stage with her questionable couture and announcing to the world that her upcoming release will be called Born This Way, the singer was spotted at New York’s JFK Airport on Monday sporting a tattoo of a unicorn on her left thigh with the words, yep, ‘Born This Way’ wrapped around the mythological creature,” the e-zine further notes.

Thus, it’s likely she got the ink done to celebrate the unveiling of the name of her upcoming album and to remind people to treasure their (and her) specialness.
