preventing or reducing occupational injuries

Nowadays, utility knives and box cutters are very common equipment in nearly any business. They are used to cut-open packages and cartons, cut string or strapping material, cut tape down the center of boxes, open bags, tear away shrink-wrap and to cut seatbelts in cases of emergency. In short, they are being used for everything during daily operations. But, too often many businesses overlooked their importance that leads to big losses-both in accidental destruction of stock and in injury claims.

This small mistake and big loss can be avoided through having the right cutting tool in place. Preventing or reducing occupational injuries and workers’ compensation claims should be a priority for all organizations. Mandating a safety cutter platform and building and increasing the company’s safety culture, can greatly save the company. This savings comes from both reduced injury claims and from fewer incidences of damage to stock. But, safety is the most important benefit of having the right cutting tools, translating to improve productivity and efficiency.

enhancing customer service

A while ago, I went to pick up money in one of the money transfer agents nearby. I’m not a first time client so I’m confident that it would be a smooth transaction though I still bring my identification card with me. But, to my dismay the agent asked me to fill up new client form again saying “oops sorry ma’am I can’t find your file” after nearly 30 minutes of searching. But I clearly remember I fill up pages of forms before for profile filing.

It is such a waste of time both our precious time. If they only have document imaging, they could greatly benefit from it. Well, it’s not only them, but other branches can also benefit from it as well.

With the document imaging, they will have the ability to convert paper documents into electronic images on their computer. So, they could do that the first time clients signed the forms. Once on their desktop, these documents can be retrieved effortlessly in seconds. Other benefits include prevention of loss records, saves storage space, reduce storage costs, easy records management, ease in finding documents as it eliminates manual searches, eliminates need having file cabinets, images can be centrally available throughout the company networks since information is readily available that boils down to enhanced customer service.

jewelry making while waiting

After graduation, sister is busy looking for a job. But, four months have passed and there’s no good news yet. So, she decided to do something productive while waiting. She said she will continue making fashion jewelry. It’s her entrepreneurial project during college and it makes her good amount of money.

However, she is facing quite a problem. Since jewelry making is a group project back then, everybody owns the tools and supplies. They decided to sell everything after graduation. That’s why she needs to start from scratch. But, I can’t just sit and watch her struggle to get those things. I’m willing to give my all out support for her by helping her purchase the needed materials and tools like ring mandrel, beading wire, and so much more. Lucky for me I bookmarked few stores I encountered before so I know where I will get those things. Oh well, I just hope she will become successful in making creative things. Who knows, she might not need to get a job anymore.

advertising strategy to reach customers

Businesses of any size regularly need to have an advertising strategy to reach customers. One advertising method with many advantages is direct mail advertising. Messages are sent to target customers through the mail usually in the form of postcards, sales letters and product samples. The main goal is to get quick response from the target customers to purchase a product or service.

This type of advertising medium is particularly attractive option as it can communicate the necessary information and reach target market for a relatively low cost. Direct mail printing and mailing can focus on exact demographic for the product or service. Utilizing it eliminates wasting resources from other campaigns that do not target the desired market. In that case, this is mostly beneficial of businesses that cannot afford television or print advertising because of the high cost involved, but larger businesses can also benefit from it. In addition, direct mail also gives the opportunity to know if the company is targeting the right audience and to keep track of the responses.

Keeping Up with your Monthly Payments

At some point in time you have probably been forced to take out a loan or use a credit card for an unexpected event. Most people have a loan or some form of credit that they have to account for each month, it is important to keep these payments up to date to avoid late charges that may cause you to slip further into debt.

It is wise to look at your finances on a regular basis in order to budget what is coming out and determine if you have sufficient funds to cover these outgoings. When you organize your finances it is a good idea to create a list of all the outgoings including any loans or credit cards you have that need to be paid on a per month basis. Once you have created your list make a new one but this time prioritize it so that the most important and urgent items are at the top and will be paid first.

Generally most people opt to pay the minimum payment on credit cards which is usually just the interest this means you are unlikely to pay off the actual amount you have borrowed. If you have any spare money at the end of the month I would recommend you use this to pay off credit cards, remember to factor in the cost of living when working your finances out to avoid having to pay for day to day home running costs on a credit card. .

benefits of promotional items

For a long time, we have been seeing a lot of companies take advantage of promotional items. The reason for this is simple. Promotional products work for all types of business whether big or small. It can help companies reinforce their brand message and linking emotional benefits to their business or product or service. Using functional top rated promo gear they can use will expose the user to the company message over and over again.

It has been proven that using promotional product is effective in spreading awareness, increasing responsiveness, influencing purchase actions, and motivating trade show traffic. The success can easily be measured with obvious results every time. Also, it can be used in all situations from a corporate uniform to business gifts, or even merchandise. But, the biggest advantage over other advertising media is that the recipient usually always keeps the item and the advertiser then gets repeat exposure at no extra cost.

How to Compare Housing Costs

Don’t make the mistake of thinking finding cheap housing is all about the lowest price or monthly rental charge. A house for $10,000 less may mean paying $60 to $90 less per month on the mortgage, but if it means driving 10 miles more to and from work, and your car costs 30-cents-per-mile to operate, that’s an extra $120 per month right there. Look at the following when comparing options:

  • Loan costs – A higher interest rate on a small house may make the payments higher than those on a lower-interest owner-financed home which costs more. Consider the interest costs.
  • Home owner insurance - Really cheap housing may not be so cheap if you have to pay more because of old heating systems or being in a flood or earthquake area.
  • Taxes - A block or two can be dramatic in the cost of property taxes, depending on whether you are in or out of the city or township.
  • Car expenses - It is not only your job, but also stores that can be further away if you are too far out of the city. Estimate your monthly car expenses based on the location and your habits.
  • Gas, electric and other utilities - Your heating bill can be twice as high on a drafty old house versus a new energy-efficient one. Consider electricity, water, sewer and garbage collection expenses too.
  • Repairs - Some homes are truly ready to live in without any work needed. Try to estimate the next three-year’s repairs and divide by 36 to get a monthly figure to compare. [Read more...]
