Beauty Tips with Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet  is one of the most beautiful women on the scene right now, that doesn’t have an entire army of stylists behind her to help her look her best at all times. In fact, she does her own makeup even for red carpet events, she admits. In the latest issue of InStyle magazine, the British actress, who is now the ambassador for Lancome, dishes beauty and makeup tips, while also offering her female fans helpful advice for when they’re in front of the camera.

The most surprising part that one can’t but agree, Kate’s admission that she does her own makeup, whereas even smaller celebrities use at least one stylist to help them out when they go out in public for red carpet events, and not only. So, Kate sticks by the basic rule of how you can’t have more than one facial trait emphasized: it’s either the eyes or the lips.

With her, it’s mostly the lips, which she likes to cover in bright red. For some reason, Kate rarely goes for the heavy smoky eyes look on the red carpet. Of course, she also uses foundation: throughout the years, she discovered that she got better results by using a mix of two foundations instead of just one. At the same time, she steers clear from powder for a reason she’s not afraid to make public. [Read more...]

Makeup Lesson with Sofia Vergara and Ellen DeGeneres

Have you ever wondered what happens when you put a woman as beautiful as Sofia Vergara with a comedic genius as Ellen DeGeneres in the same room? The video embedded is for you. As any respectable beauty aficionado must know, Sofia and Ellen are the latest faces of CoverGirl. If you don’t know that yet, then you might want to check out the ad they shot for the Simply Ageless range of products.

Just recently, Ellen invited Sofia on her show and, in order to promote CoverGirl, came up with a skit that is incredibly funny, even if not right down to the point as regards the whole “promoting” makeup products part. Sofia was the designated body (because she’s beautiful), while Ellen stood in the back (because she’s even more beautiful), “playing” Sofia’s hands.

To make the skit even funnier, Ellen wrote the dialogue for Sofia but did not allow her to read it before going in front of the cameras to shoot. [Read more...]

looking for good eyelash growth serum

Even before, I always envy girls who are blessed with long thick eyelashes. I don’t have that kind of blessing though I can’t say mine is barren. I just have enough to give my eyes the much needed protection. But, I can’t rid of the fact that I always dream of having one without putting mascara, which is somewhat a hassle especially when I’m on a hurry. That’s why I look for the best eyelashes growth serum available in the market today.

However, before I will go get myself a product, I will have to go through reading eyelash growth products review. My goal is to achieve longer, darker, fuller, thicker, and beautiful eyelashes without jeopardizing safety. I always consider the fact that there are hundreds of products claiming results, but might be harmful to the user. So, reading product reviews will at least give me the assurance that it’s safety to use.

How to Get Rid of those Aging Facial Jowls

One of the bothersome early signs of facial aging is the onset of jowling. The jowl, once proud tissue of the side of the face, falls to hang along or below the jawline. The beautiful smooth jawline of youth has given way to jowls of the aging face. Time, gravity, and use have weakened the attachments of the skin to the underlying muscle as it sags over the unchanging structure of the underlying bone and muscle.

Patients are really bothered by the development of jowling, particularly younger ages who see it as the reality that aging is occurring. There are numerous options to treat the jowls, both surgical and non-surgical, with varying degrees of effectiveness. The most effective methods, to no surprise, are surgical and include facelifts and liposuction. A full facelift is best viewed as a jowl-neck lift. In its more limited form, it is primarily a jowl lift. It works by pulling skin and deeper tissues up and back, eliminating the jowls by pulling loose tissue above the jawline again. Repositioning of the jowl tissue occurs, but it is not removed just redistributed to a higher location.

More minor procedures that have recently gained popularity, which aims to do the same thing, are the Thread lifts or Feather lifts. In this simple procedure, barned sutures are passed deep into the cheek and facial tissue above the jowl area and cinched up from above. For very minor degress of jowling, this has some benefit but is not effective enough with large amounts of jowling and the long-term results with these procedures is suspect. Actually removing jowl fat can be done with liposuction, reducing their size. This can be done alone or in conjunction with some form of a facelift. When performed alone, liposuction of the jowls must be done very carefully and conservatively, lest you get irregularities that are apparent in the overlying skin. When done with a facelift, the lifting and tightening of the skin usually eliminates this concern. [Read more...]

Liver Prevents Acne?

Since you eat, breathe, and create so many toxins, the liver has a hard time neutralizing these toxins. If you are constipated, this puts an extreme toxic load on your liver, which eventually leads to the excretion of these toxins through your skin and face. Excessive toxins coming out through your skin can lead to acne and other skin disorders.

All cellular wastes, used up hormones and excess hormones are routed to the liver through your lymphatic system. Once in the liver, the liver starts the detoxifying process. If the liver is overloaded with toxins, it will start to store these toxins in its own cells, in the cells of your organs, in your joints, in your skin, or any other place where the body is weak.

Hormones, such as androgen that are not neutralized by the liver, can get back into the blood and move into the skin cells where they pile up and cause an over production of sebum that will flow into the hair follicle. This over production can cause acne.

Eating good fiber daily can keep your colon clean and free of constipation. Fiber can also trap excess hormones and prevent them from being reabsorbed into your blood through your colon walls. If you are a typical eater, then most likely you have been surviving on junk food. The quantity of toxic chemical and non-food additives that are in the food that you eat accumulates in your colon, your liver, your blood, and in your face as a toxin that needs to be neutralized and eliminated. Causes and Symptoms of Enlarged Pores

Pores play a vital role in skin physiology. The pore is little more than the opening of the hair follicle onto the surface of the skin. Skin pores are not invisible and everyone has them. No method for skin oils to reach the surface, protecting skin from environmental dehydration. Technically speaking, the pore is little more than the opening of the hair follicle onto the surface of the skin. The source of the hair follicle lies deep within the dermis. Midway up the dermal layer, the sebaceous oil gland empties into the hair follicle. Both skin oil (sebum) and the hair breach the surface through this tiny aperture.

Anywhere there is a hair, there will be a pore. Anything that attracts attention or expands the natural shape of pores magnifies their appearance. Coupled with dry skin, pores can look worse than they actually are. But there are definitely ways to unclog pores and amazing makeup products to give the illusion of having almost no pores at all. Stop using harsh toners or astringents on the affected areas. Genetics may certainly be to blame. Barely visible on those prone to drier skin, individuals with oily, thicker (glabrous) skin tend to have larger looking, more noticeable pores. Sun damage is another cause. As we age, one of the ways sun damage affects the skin is through the enlargement of the pores.

Most enlarged pores on the face are the result of hereditary factors, more than anything else. Sun damage and aging cause the epidermis to thicken and a rim of cells are more likely to collect around individual pores. While microscopic, these rings exaggerate pore diameter. Pores may be more visible simply due to lack of good skin grooming and poor exfoliation. Too much surface oil and remnant naturally shed skin cells can collect around the edges of pores, creating the illusion of the pores being larger than they really are. [Read more...]
