DiCaprio Named Highest Grossing Actor of 2010

He may have been terribly overlooked by the awards galas, but Leonardo DiCaprio is laughing all the way to the bank. Forbes magazine has just named him the highest grossing actor of 2010. While fans believe he was “robbed” of at least one Golden Globe nomination, there is confirmation that he remains one of the most bankable stars of today.

Not only did his “Inception” shatter records at the box office (without the inflated price of 3D tickets, Forbes duly notes) and bode really well with critics, but it also consolidated Leo as a sure-hit with audiences. “Inception” and the previously released “Shutter Island” made of him the highest grossing star at the box office for the year that’s about to end, with sales of $1.1 billion globally. Being a savvy businessman will help Leo get a share of this amount, since he agreed to do both films for a lower salary than his customary $20 million paycheck, in exchange for a share of final profits.

For the present list, though, the mag takes into account only box office gross, without DVD sales. The rest of the list looks as follows: newcomer Mia Wasikowska is second for her role in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” which made $1.03 million at the global box office. Her “Alice” co-star, Johnny Depp, landed in third place, while Robert Downey Jr. comes in fourth. Daniel Radcliffe is at number 5, for his role in the latest “Harry Potter” film, “Death Hallows Part 1.”

my Christmas hangover

Christmas is now over. I hope everybody had a great time. As for me, I still have some hang over. I just had a little drink, but my head is already aching. Actually, I’m not an alcohol drinker even socially. But, hubby gave me one can of beer yesterday so I give it a try. Gosh! It doesn’t taste so good and I got drunk. That’s how intolerant I am when it came to that stuff. Good thing it’s Sunday, I can rest all day long if I want to.

Before I would do that, I will take a look at those pine beds at Jason’s shop. I find the product before Christmas day. The store offers a wide variety of rustic-styled beds to choose from, including bed frames that are completely crafted from selected hardwoods, and others that blend in elements of iron or other details to create specific accents. I’m having interest on this one since hubby wants to have a rest house in the future. And he specifically want some nature feel in it. Well, log furniture can add to the nature feel so it’s good to take a look at them as early as now.

free to do anything I like today

Indeed, hubby and I had some great time yesterday while shopping for our Christmas presents. But, it exhausts most of our energy. Good thing, I’m pretty much free to do anything I like today, which includes sleeping, watching movies, blogging and reading some articles about any topic such as gold. I’m still interested to buy gold bullion perhaps in the future.

Buying gold has been recognized for centuries as one of the best ways to preserve one’s wealth and purchasing power. Gold bullion is a unique investment. From the time of ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans to more modern times, man has had an affinity for gold bullion.

Making Homemade Rose Water and Rose Oil

You can make rose (or any other herb) water and extracts at home. Take a large pot, insert a clean brick or rock, and fill with rose petals or herbs or whatever around the brick. Cover with water and place a small glass dish on top of the brick.

On top of the pot put a stainless bowl and fill with ice. Simmer about three hours depending how many petals or herbs you have, replacing the ice as needed. The bowl with the ice will condense the steam and drip down into the glass bowl. The water in the glass bowl is your rose water or whatever herb, on top will be a layer of oil. This is the essential oil.

You can separate these and use the water in cooking and the essential oil in potpourri, lotions, soaps or whatever.

finally, were able to shop Christmas presents

Finally, after the long wait hubby and I were able to shop for our Christmas presents yesterday. We spent the entire afternoon roaming around the mall to find the best gift for him and her. It is true; the meaning of gift giving is defeated as both of us know our gift for each other. But, we deem it is better that way so we will really like and use our gift.

At first sight, I feel in love towards the diamond tennis bracelet at one jewelry shop we visited. I think I mentioned before that I love diamonds. And I will be very happy to receive one especially from hubby. Unfortunately, the cost of that particular bracelet isn’t part of our budget since it’s really pricey. So, I have to let go of the idea.

Basically, tennis bracelets are popular accessories for formal occasions due to their luster and sparkle. Individual diamonds (or reasonable facsimiles) are placed in square settings and then strung into a bracelet held together by a clasp. Silver, gold or other quality jewelry metal may be used for the settings and support wiring.

good thing we did not push through

We are supposedly doing our Christmas shopping for presents today. Unfortunately, the weather gets too unfriendly that’s why I decided to cancel it. I don’t want to be bug by any problems on the road as I don’t have any patience for that. Well, it’s good we did that as I have more time to look for articles about gold.

It is an open book that I want to buy gold coins. Like many people, I am also fascinated with the beauty and magic of gold, and with its power to change men’s lives. Today, the beauty of a gold bar lies in its proven ability to diversify investments, protect wealth and preserve one’s purchasing power. It is considered a unique form of investment.

Who Started Christmas?

This morning I heard a story on the radio of a woman who was out Christmas shopping with her two children.  After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable, and after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her kids.

She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year – Overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every house-warming, taste all the holiday food and treats, getting that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, making sure we don’t forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card.

Finally the elevator doors opened and there was already a crowd in the car.  She pushed her way into the car, dragged her two kids in with her, and all the bags of stuff.  When the doors closed she couldn’t take it anymore and stated, “Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up, and shot.”
