AVOID BITES!

Some odors attract mosquitoes; others repel. This is why you get mosquito bites more often. Here are some tips for you:

  • Avoid going outdoors when mosquitoes are most active – at dawn and at dusk. If you must, wear protective clothing such as light colored pants and long-sleeved shirts.
  • Apply insect repellent to exposed area. A ten percent concentration is effective for two hours. As 30 percent concentration is the maximum you can apply on children. However, no such preparation should be applied for infants under two months. Avoid also the mouth, eyes, and ears, as well as open wounds and cuts. Don’t ingest or inhale the preparation, and wash hands after application. Wash and rinse applied areas with soap and water if preparing to go indoors. Kids should use it only under adult supervision.
  • If you’re spending the whole night outdoors, use mosquito nets or nets integrated in tents to avoid bites.
  • Lemon eucalyptus oil and citronella are said to repel mosquitoes too. No one is sure, though, how effective these are and how long they keep you protected.
